Tutu Ballet/Tap 1
Tutu Ballet 1:
Our theme for December is The Weather. Using the classic song, “Jingle Bells”, along with hand held sleigh bells, we explore different rhythms, making our circle song a big hit! Across the floor we practice hopping on one foot to the festive song "Hanukkah oh Hannukah"! This month we are working on moving in a circle and around the room as a group. Our "Weather Dance" teaches the children to tell a story with movement while exploring weather conditions. We continue to practice and build on our ballet steps and have added arabesque tendu. Our holiday dance is sure to be a hit with our families!
Tutu Tap 1:
In tap this month, we warm-up with marches, heel toe steps, shuffle step, shuffle hops and heel cramp. In the center we learn a festive combination to show parents! We end class with a fun festive game!
Tutu Ballet/Tap 2
Tutu Ballet 2:
In this class we continue to introduce more steps and technique with the help of our Twinkle Bear. We are working across the floor on steps such as pas de chats and piques. We also practicer leaps by jumping over a "candle" to the festive song "Hurry Up and Light the Candle"! Our “Weather Dance” teaches the students how Ballet tells a story through movement. We can’t wait to show our families our ballet dance to “Sugar Plum Fairies”
Tutu Tap 2:
In tap this month, we warm-up with marches, heel toe, heel step, shuffle step shuffle hop, heel cramp and jump claps with a quarter turn. In the center we learn a festive combination to show parents! We end class with a fun festive game!
-Starlet Level -
Starlet Triples 1
Starlet Ballet 1:
Starlet Triples continue to work in ballet at the barre with positions of the feet, port de bras and battements. Across the room we do turns using spotting and small jumps such as glissades and pas de chats.
Starlet Tap 1:
In tap we start out with a fun exercise in groups! Our dancers work on rhythm using bongos while the others work on a combination to festive music. Across the room we are working on new steps such as travel step and buffalo step. Dancers can't wait to show their parents the center combination!
Starlet Jazz 1:
This month in warm up we are focused on isolations while working on jazz basics such as kick ball change, pivots, grapevines, chasse back step and 3 step turn. Across the floor we work on step ball changes and grand jetes (leaps). Students enjoy the challenge of perfecting those big leaps by jumping over stars!
